Kaleidoskopy
$34.99 plus shipping/distribution, $24.99 for existing customers

Spirit Canyon Audio is proud to announce Kaleidoskopy, the long-awaited companion product to our ground breaking impulse response library Spectral Relativity.

Where Spectral Relativity is aimed more at creating evocative and shifting ambient soundscapes, Kaleidoskopy is geared towards producers of more traditional music genres, especially music that has fixed tempos.  It is also well suited for vocal processing and processing of acoustic instruments or other non-synthesized instruments (such as electric guitar), as the majority of impulse responses are of limited duration.  Finally, all Kaleidoskopy impulse responses are in full 24-bit resolution.

The result is an innovative and vast collection of impulse responses, which producers and musicians of nearly any style will find compelling.  Using Kaleidoskopy, you can do all kinds of powerful things to your audio:

  • Create exotic beat-synced effects
  • Put instruments into otherworldly reverberation chambers
  • Place your audio in a collection of unusual rooms and other bizarre acoustic spaces
  • Reverse time, but with very small degrees of smear
  • Animate comping or other instrument lines using a variety of pitch-agnostic modulators
  • Mutate your audio using a variety of even more extreme impulse responses
  • Create your own signature sound, separating your music from so many other sound-alike technologies

While Kaleidoskopy is primarily targeted primarily at electronic music producers, musicians and sound designers from all walks of life will find the collection indispensible:

  • Transform any percussion line or other rhythmic signal into an exotic but still rhythmic melange of sound
  • Morph vocals into wild textures,  while preserving intelligibility and even vocal character
  • Create three-dimensional reverberation spaces that have never existed in nature
  • Reconstruct leads into screaming alien lead lines that still fit into your mix
  • The list goes on and on...

If you're interested in more specific information, the manual can be downloaded here. Also be sure to see the known compatibility list.

The following demos are available which show just a few of the ways that Kaleidskopy can transform your sound. For all demos, the dry sound is played first, then with various impulse responses applied. Only one impulse response was applied to each iteration; no stacking was used. And naturally, only Kaleidoskopy was used to process the sounds, including the stereo pan.

Demo Description
Drum Loop 1 Various BPM-synced, reverb-ish, and modulation IRs are applied to a simple rock drum loop, creating numerous interesting and evocative drum sequences.
Drum Loop 2 Simple hip-hop drum loop is transformed into a number of sick and crazy drum beats, by using a variety of Kaleidoskopy impulse responses.
Drum Loop 3 Another drum loop processed to highlight the various demented reverb-like and room-like impulse responses in the Kaleidoskopy collection. Pay special attention to the psychoacoustic bass enhancement performed by some of the IRs.
Guitar Loop A simple electric guitar riff is mutated into several different forms using Kaleidoskopy modulators and reverbs.
Drum Loop 4 Fast-tempo drum loop is utterly morphed using a number of beat-synchronized and modulation impulse responses.
Vocal Loop Nice rhythmic female vocal line is processed using several Kaleidoskopy impulse responses, highlighting the otherworldly reverb and room effects in the library. Also note the use of modulator IRs to create a wicked synthetic vocoder-like effect.
Bass Loop Straightforward synth bass riff is modified through Kaleidoskopy, showing off some of the more subtle modulation and room effects that can be achieved.
Drum Loop 5 An otherwise dull percussion loop is made interesting through the use of Kaleidoskopy modulation, reverb, and time reversal impulse responses.

Remember, each sound was processed only once, and using only Kaleidoskopy.
